			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This past Thursday, June 2 2011, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) unveiled a brand new food icon.</p>
<p>Known as MyPlate, this new icon has been implemented in place of the ever-familiar Food Pyramid as the symbol for the standard by which the USDA is encouraging the public to regulate their food and calorie intake.</p>
<p><a rel="attachment wp-att-1133" href="http://www.butlerhealthandfitness.com/?attachment_id=1133"><img title="Myplate" src="http://www.xshadyside.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Myplate.jpg" alt="ChooseMyPlate" width="420" height="316" /></a></p>
<p>The icon is an image of a dinner plate, quartered to show how much of one’s plate should be dedicated to particular food groups: one quarter protein, one quarter grains, one quarter fruits, and one quarter vegetables.  Off to the side is a separate section for a serving of dairy, be that a glass of milk or a cup of yogurt.</p>
<p>Notably, MyPlate shows a significant increase in the amount of fruits and vegetables recommended per meal in comparison to the old Food Pyramid.</p>
<p>The MyPlate campaign goal is to encourage portion control, the website noting “Enjoy your food, but eat less.”</p>

<p>What do you like most about working at Butler Health &amp; Fitness?  I enjoy another opportunity to teach Silver Sneakers.  I teach Silver Sneakers at Tanglewood.</p>
<p>What do you think stands out to customers when they describe their overall Butler Health &amp; Fitness experience?   I think they enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and the friendliness of the customers.</p>
<p>What is your specialty and what makes your class unique and different from other fitness facilities?   I have been certified by ACE in 1989; NDEITA in 1998 and HealthCare Dimensions Older Adult Group Exercise 2005.  I have taught exercise in Guam, Colorado, England, California, and Pennsylvania.   I have had the opportunity to teach to the British community in England in their Sports Centres and I also have had the opportunity to teach to the active duty and dependents on the military bases that we were stationed.  My husband was in the Air Force for 21 years and I traveled with him for 20 years. My specialty now is Silver Sneakers and working with the older population.  I believe my class is unique because I feel I really like to explain the exercise and how it benefits the student.  They usually comment that they like the information.  I also like to have fun and really get to know the students.  I really make an effort to learn student’s names.</p>
<p>What is the best compliment you received regarding your training/class?  The best compliment is how much better the student feels when they are done with my class and that they are glad they came.</p>
<p>Do you have any tips or helpful hints?  I have been an instructor for 28 years and I love the benefits of working out along with healthy eating.  I just encourage everyone no matter what their age to stay active and make healthy eating choices.</p>
<p>What classes other than your own do you recommend at Butler Health &amp; Fitness? Why?  I enjoy attending pilates, zumba, yoga, and body pump.  I enjoy pilates for the toning and strength it provides; zumba is energizing; and body pump helps develop and strengthen my muscles, yoga is very relaxing and stretches and lengthens my muscles.</p>
<p>Do you have any hobbies outside of the gym? I enjoy being with my family, gardening, skiing, and reading.</p>
<p>What websites blogs or books do you recommend for people interested in your specialty?  I would recommend the Yoga magazine for tips.</p>

<p>What do you like most about working at Butler Health &amp; Fitness?  I love the people.  We have the nicest, hard working, motivational patrons that are a constant inspiration to why I teach fitness classes.</p>
<p>What do you think stands out to customers when they describe their overall Butler Health &amp; Fitness experience?  I think they would definitely talk about the fitness classes and the variety we have to offer as well as the excellent instructors we have to teach those great classes!</p>
<p>What is your specialty and what makes your class unique and different from other fitness facilities?  I would have to say that Zumba is my specialty right now.  I would say I have an abnormal amount of energy which keeps my patrons coming back!!!</p>
<p>What is the best compliment you received regarding your training/class?  I have had people come in and tell me that my class is what has helped them lose weight and become in the best shape of their lives.  Thanking me for my energy to get them through.  I often get that my Zumba is unlike any other&#8230;very high intense and fun!</p>
<p>Do you have any tips or helpful hints?  Being physically fit is a lifestyle.  I wish the amount of people that come to the gym in January for New Years resolutions would stick to them and really truly find all the benefits of leading a healthy and active lifestyle.  Once you make a routine out of it, you won&#8217;t feel the same without it!!</p>
<p>What classes other than your own do you recommend at Butler Health &amp; Fitness? Why?  Pilates is a great core and leg challenge that will be sure to burn you from head to toe!  Cycling is a great challenge and something different that could mix up your workout!</p>
<p>Do you have any hobbies outside of the gym?  I enjoy playing sports with my fellow colleagues before work at 6 am.  We play hockey, water polo, and cone ball.  They are all great workouts and a ton of fun! I really enjoy the friendly competition that I don&#8217;t get in a fitness class.</p>
<p>What websites blogs or books do you recommend for people interested in your specialty? <a href="http://www.zumba.com">www.zumba.com</a> has a ton of great articles and success stories that are sure to pull your interest.</p>

<p>What is your specialty and what makes your class unique and different from other fitness facilities? They love my bootcamp after holidays when we&#8217;ve all overindulged and need to really burn calories! They also really enjoy spinning in the morning.</p>
<p>What is the best compliment you received regarding your training/class? I am able to motivate on a MONDAY morning. They come in dragging and then after tell me they feel great.</p>
<p>What classes other than your own do you recommend at Butler Health &amp; Fitness? Why? I take Leah&#8217;s Wed morning sometimes and it&#8217;s really good so I tell people about that.</p>
<p>Do you have any hobbies outside of the gym? Cycling, dancing, rollerblading, rock climbing, and jogging while I push my kids in the double stroller.</p>

<p>What is your specialty and what makes your class unique and different from other fitness facilities? My specialty is Spinning, but I am certified in Silver Sneakers, Yoga 1, Yoga 2 and aerobics. I am very dedicated to my class participants and this facility.</p>
<p>What is the best compliment you received regarding your training/class?  I have been told that my classes have changed their perception of exercising. They now continue to attend classes regularly.</p>

<p>Sore knee?  Clicking shoulder?  Sprained ankle?  Do these things sound all too familiar to you?   Great news–we may be able to help!</p>
<p>Butler Health &amp; Fitness is partnering with <a href="http://www.novacare.com/" target="_blank">NovaCare Rehabilitation</a> to provide a FREE Sports Injury Clinic for members.  NovaCare’s own Jeff Bucci, PT, ATC&#8211;a physical therapist as well as a certified athletic trainer&#8211;will be here running the clinic.  Jeff is familiar with many common overuse injuries often seen in a gym atmosphere.  As such, he will be available to provide suggestions, technique modifications, and general advice on how to make a difference in the way that you feel.</p>
<p>Ultimately, our goal is to guide you toward what you can do to get rid of that pain in your knee, stop that clicking in your shoulder, and to get back on the healthiest possible track toward reaching your fitness goals!</p>
<p>This Clinic will be held at our club on Tuesday, May 24th, 2011 from 5:00 &#8211; 7:30 PM.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>What is your position (s) at Butler Health &amp; Fitness?    Organizing Fitness Classes and also an instructor for both group fitness and SilverSneaker classes.</p>
<p>What do you like most about working at Butler Health &amp; Fitness?    Everything!  I like that I am involved in every aspect of the club from teaching to front desk to babysitting to working with the members in any way I can to make their time here better and more comfortable.</p>
<p>What do you think stands out to customers when they describe their overall Butler Health &amp; Fitness experience?    It’s not a huge place but we have everything that most people are looking for in a gym and the parking is easy and accessible.  We have the perfect variety of classes and I feel the best instructors in the area.  I love the pool, perfect size and temperature.  I think our weight room has a good assortment of machines.</p>
<p>What is your specialty and what makes your class unique and different from other fitness facilities?  I teach more Yoga and Pilates classes.  I am very involved in the aqua classes when the pool is open. My type of Yoga is a combination of Hatha Yoga and Kundalini Yoga.  Hatha-Ha means sun (male) and Tha means moon (female) blending together.  Kundalini Yoga is the science of Self, and it is awakening the Self in you. Water classes are aerobic and very upbeat and hard working. </p>
<p>What is the best compliment you received regarding your training/class?   They got a great workout and loved the challenge of my class.  Also that I am very personable and interested in making my class a better one with any input they have.  The class is different each time with new challenges.</p>
<p>Do you have any tips or helpful hints?  I think that all instructors should show a big interest in their members.  Look at your class and try your best to teach to the level of each person that comes.  We range from 18 – over 65 in our classes and they all deserve to be taught at a level they can do to complete the class.  They should never feel they can’t do this so they will not be back.</p>
<p>What classes other than your own do you recommend at Butler Health &amp; Fitness? Why?   I go to almost all the classes if I am not teaching or working with a member.  I have done other pilates classes, zumba, bootcamp spinning style, body pump.  Two reasons, to see what is involved in the class so I can tell others about the class and be specific as to what the class is like.  Also, I get ideas from other classes.  Pass on those ideas combined with my design and you can get more out of a class.  To me when somebody likes what I do and uses some of my ideas, it’s a compliment.</p>
<p>Do you have any hobbies outside of the gym?   Basically I hike and spend a lot of time with my dogs.  Or hang with my kids who are older.</p>
<p>What websites blogs or books do you recommend for people interested in your specialty?    Books for Yoga, my favorite is Yoga for Women by Shakta Kaur Khalsa.  Great book for thoughts and demo’s.   I use DVD’s for pilates, a lot from TV Fitness.  Sometimes you can’t use everything they give you but you can modify or use parts of it.  Also I go to workshops to update any changes that are in the fitness industry.</p>
<p>What additional social marketing tools do you use on a regular basis and please share how often you utilize them?    I am friendly to everybody.  I walk around the gym to see what’s going on or to mingle with the members.  I get involved with almost all the aspects of the gym.  I go from teaching, to training, to front desk selling memberships, babysitting and it lets me be involved with all angles at the club.</p>
