What is your position (s) at Butler Health & Fitness? Silver Sneakers Instructor
What do you like most about working at Butler Health & Fitness? I enjoy another opportunity to teach Silver Sneakers. I teach Silver Sneakers at Tanglewood.
What do you think stands out to customers when they describe their overall Butler Health & Fitness experience? I think they enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and the friendliness of the customers.
What is your specialty and what makes your class unique and different from other fitness facilities? I have been certified by ACE in 1989; NDEITA in 1998 and HealthCare Dimensions Older Adult Group Exercise 2005. I have taught exercise in Guam, Colorado, England, California, and Pennsylvania. I have had the opportunity to teach to the British community in England in their Sports Centres and I also have had the opportunity to teach to the active duty and dependents on the military bases that we were stationed. My husband was in the Air Force for 21 years and I traveled with him for 20 years. My specialty now is Silver Sneakers and working with the older population. I believe my class is unique because I feel I really like to explain the exercise and how it benefits the student. They usually comment that they like the information. I also like to have fun and really get to know the students. I really make an effort to learn student’s names.
What is the best compliment you received regarding your training/class? The best compliment is how much better the student feels when they are done with my class and that they are glad they came.
Do you have any tips or helpful hints? I have been an instructor for 28 years and I love the benefits of working out along with healthy eating. I just encourage everyone no matter what their age to stay active and make healthy eating choices.
What classes other than your own do you recommend at Butler Health & Fitness? Why? I enjoy attending pilates, zumba, yoga, and body pump. I enjoy pilates for the toning and strength it provides; zumba is energizing; and body pump helps develop and strengthen my muscles, yoga is very relaxing and stretches and lengthens my muscles.
Do you have any hobbies outside of the gym? I enjoy being with my family, gardening, skiing, and reading.
What websites blogs or books do you recommend for people interested in your specialty? I would recommend the Yoga magazine for tips.
